Therapeutic Yoga

Judy Hirsh teaches yoga, relaxation skills, pranayama (yoga breathing) and meditation.

She holds The British Wheel of Yoga teaching diploma, has studied yoga therapy with the Yoga Biomedical Trust and Yoga Therapy Centre, Spinal Integration with Donna Fahri, and Restorative Yoga for anxiety, anger and depression with Judith Lasater, and works as an outreach lecturer for Barnet College.

Judy is used to working with women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, and to helping women and men find space in their lives to incorporate yoga as both a way to relax, and to gain strength and flexibility in body and mind.

She uses dynamic and restorative yoga postures, breath work, relaxation, meditation and yoga nidra (yoga sleep for deep relaxation) as well as elements of chanting, reiki healing, shiatsu, Alexander technique and NLP to work with people of all ages, sizes and abilities.

She says ‘We all face situations where we feel overwhelmed by events in our lives. Issues around fertility can create chronic stress, feelings of confusion, unfairness, negative internal dialogue and overwhelming sadness which can take hold of the body, mind and spirit.’

Yoga practices can help us to find the space in which to regain physical, mental and emotional stability. Judy believes that yoga can have positive effects on how we view our own reality, how we see ourselves within society and who we really are. All the knowledge we need is buried deep inside ourselves and yoga practices can help us to reconnect with them, restore our health and heal ourselves.

To relax is not to collapse but simply to undo tension that has accumulated in the body and mind by our struggle to achieve, ruined by all sorts of negative, destructive feelings’ Vanda Scaravelli
