After three months of treatment, a second sperm test is done, and this would be expected to show a minimum of 10% improvement if treatment is to be continued. Often, we see far more significant improvement than this. For example, a 99% abnormality can transform over three months of treatment to a 75% abnormality. Most of the patients who have a 10% improvement after three months of treatment will go on to have a child naturally within the 6 – 12 months after treatment. Of those patients not successful at conceiving naturally after treatment, 80% of these will conceive first time using ICSI with IVF or Gift providing that their partner is without fertility problems and receives our IVF/IUI transfer treatment protocol.
